Foothills Brewing’s Footnotes Space Complete

Wilson-Covington Construction Company has completed the Footnotes Cafe and Event Space for Foothills Brewing in Winston-Salem. This newest addition to the Foothills lineup will serve as a cafe during the day serving coffee and light fare as well as serving Foothill’s own beer. It will also be available for weddings and other private events.

Wilson-Covington successfully adapted this historic building including structural work, concrete work, all new plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems and finishes to serve as an exciting new venue in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. By means of a lift the space was connected to the neighboring Foothills Brewpub and Restaurant allowing the kitchen in that space to serve both facilities.

Decorative Plaster Move

Wilson-Covington is currently doing a whole-house remodel and restoration of a 1929 home in Winston-Salem, NC. This project includes adding a residential elevator to access three floors. In order to make room for the elevator shaft a wall in the main hall had to be moved approximately 2′. This required moving a piece of decorative plaster crownmolding almost 90 years old. Wilson-Covington carpenters carefully removed this piece, framed new wall, and replaced.

Salt-Flax Restoration Update

Wilson-Covington continues restoration of the 1814 Salt-Flax shop and home in Old Salem, Winston-Salem, NC. Currently work is under way to shore the framing of the home and dig out the front three foundation walls. This will allow for installation of modern CMU walls that can be waterproofed, allowing for living space under the front shop of the structure. The existing stone and brick foundations were structurally failing. Original material will be used where visible to show visitors and guests the construction of the home while allowing for 21st century amenities in the basement.

Other work in progress includes framing repair and replacement on the main level of the home and roof replacement. The roof will be re-roofed with pressure treated pine shakes to mimic the original wood shakes.
